Call for Collaborator
A three-year contract is available for M.Sc. graduated in Computer Science and Engineering and related degrees, within the PHOTONICA research project (PHOTONICA: Photonic Interconnection Technology for Chip Multiprocessing Architectures) at the “Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Informazione” of the University of Siena, in collaboration with the “Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’informazione” of the University of Pisa.
The three-year PHOTONICA project will explore multicore architectures enabled by novel on-chip photonic interconnection technologies, employed in both passive and active (reconfigurable) photonic networks. Other core partners: the research group of the University of Ferrara will work at the on-chip photonic network level, while the research group in the Politecnico di Bari will address the underlying low-level on-chip photonic technologies. The research activity will be developed also in collaboration with European partners (e.g. Microsoft, HP, ARM, INTEL) within ongoing specific projects.
We are looking for people interested in exploring the usage of photonic technologies in future multicore systems and motivated in studying new solutions for:
- CMP architectures, cache hierarchies, interconnection networks
- Profile-driven compile/link/runtime optimization strategies
REQUIREMENTS
A good knowledge of oral and written English is required and the following expertizes are positively considered:
- C/C++ programming
- Base/advanced knowledge of the architecture of modern microprocessors and systems
- Experience in using/modifying architectural simulators
